Website Programming

These workshops are designed for programmers new to web development, designers, and anyone without a formal computer science background. The sessions progress from the basic building blocks of programming to the development of a simple content management system.

1. Programming Fundamentals

Course fee: $150 (regular price: $195)

This workshop will introduce the fundamentals of computer programming - including how to break down a problem and write the solution using flowcharts and pseudocode. The level is appropriate for those without a computer science background, or for anyone who has worked with some code, but would like a formal understanding of the programming process.

  • Procedural Programming concepts
  • Writing pseudocode
  • Programming statements
  • Application states and variables
  • Branching and looping structures
  • Subroutines and functions
  • Computer Algorithms

The emphasis will be on the logic and design of web applications. In this first workshop, we will not use computers, or write any code.

This program was originally developed for a certificate of professional development at the New England Institute of Art in Brookline, Massachusetts.
